Join us for round four of Screen Queens, with a screening of the legendary Kinky Boots
Kinky Boots is a 2006 British comedy-drama film directed by Julian Jarrold and written by Geoff Deane and Tim Firth. The film, based on true events, tells of struggling shoe factory owner Charlie, who forms an unlikely partnership with Lola, a drag queen, to save the business. Charlie develops a plan to produce custom footwear for drag queens, rather than the men's dress shoes that his firm is known for, alienating many in the process.
The movie blends humor and heartfelt drama while exploring themes of acceptance, friendship, self-confidence, and adapting to change.
Grab some popcorn (available at the bar) and pull up a seat for this 2006 movie that later sparked the Broadway masterpiece, becoming one of the most celebrated musicals of its era.
