Transgender Day of Remembrance is observed annually on November 20 to honor the memory of transgender and gender-diverse individuals whose lives have been lost to acts of anti-transgender violence.
Founded in 1999 by advocate Gwendolyn Ann Smith to memorialize Rita Hester, a Black transgender woman murdered in 1998, TDoR has grown into a global observance. It stands as a time for reflection, mourning, and a call to action against hatred and injustice.
This day reminds us of the ongoing struggles faced by transgender communities and reaffirms our shared commitment to creating a world where everyone can live with safety, dignity, and respect.
We will meet at Argents Mead at 7pm, followed by a short walk back to Electric Chapel where there'll be a reading of those lost within the past year.
All are welcome to attend in support and remembrance.
